WAND at ANA DC Days 2011
WAND had a great time participating in Alliance for Nuclear Accountability’s (ANA) DC Days in Washington, DC on April 3-6. This year’s theme, “Nuclear Reality Check$”, focused on the myths surrounding the Department of Energy’s “complex modernization” plans and the frequent cost overruns associated with nuclear projects.
The agenda for ANA DC Days was packed with educational opportunities, advocacy, and social time with other disarmament and environmental activists. Over 80 activists from around the country participated in ANA DC Days, including 11 Georgia WAND members. Georgia WAND represents strongly at ANA DC Days every year! During ANA’s reception celebrating 24 years of grassroots organizing, WAND Public Policy Director Kathy Robinson presented an award to Carol Urner, a long-time activist with Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
