VI. DEVELOP INNER STRENGTH

  • Take time for reflection and meditation. Recognize that our ability to rise to the challenges facing us now starts with inner power and inner peace.

  • This is a difficult time. Allow time for rest and self-care.

  • Examine our own lives for prejudice and lack of understanding. Start by identifying one small behavior or relationship that lacks wholeness and understanding. Consciously seek change within.

  • Build community. Get to know your neighbors, other groups and nationalities in your community. Form relationships, partnerships, "communityships," and "nationships."

  • Organize circles for reflection and support.

  • Listen to children. Help children process fear.

  • Teach children that they can do things differently. Offer role models. We all have the power to invent.

  • Think of yourself as a role model.

  • Practice kindness.
