Karen Jacob, Bristol, IN,
WAND Chair
Karen Jacob has enjoyed a long "peace career." She has
worked for Physicians for Social Responsibility, in addition
to long-time affiliations with other peace and justice
organizations. Karen serves as president of WAND of Northern
Indiana, an active chapter that organizes many local peace
and justice events. |

Catherine Barrett, Cincinnati, OH
State Rep. Barrett holds a B.A. in Business Administration
from The Union Institute in Cincinnati Master Curriculum
at Antioch University focused upon financial planning.
She serves as a Fellow of Center for Policy Alternatives
Flemming Fellows Institute, Council of State Governments
Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development
Fellow, Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior

Wiltina
Bultman, Baltimore, MD
Wiltina is a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern
Shore and Salisbury University with a dual degree in Social
Work and Sociology. She is a member of STAND and has assisted
in the organizing of a Baltimore Chapter. Wiltina interned
with the Maryland General Assembly during her senior year
in college and is currently the chief of staff for the
Chair of the Baltimore City Delegation Salima Siler Marriott. |

Hon. Jo Carson, Fort Smith, AR
Carson served two terms in the Arkansas General Assembly,
and currently practices law in her own office. A graduate
of the University of Arkansas Law School, she has represented
hundreds of juveniles and adults in criminal cases. Jo
earned her undergraduate degree in communications at the
University where she was one of their best intercollegiate
debaters. |

Susan Cundiff, Eugene, OR.
Officially retired after 32 years in education, Cundiff
finds many ways to return to her field of counseling.
She has taught future counselors at Northwest Christian
College and she serves as a mentor to first year teachers
and counselors. Susan believes that working on the board
supports her strongest passions: hope for change in the
world rests in communication among people of disparate
beliefs searching for common interests. |

Hon.
Bettieanne Hart, Atlanta, GA
After two terms in the Georgia General Assembly, Hart
now serves as Deputy District Attorney for Fulton County,
GA. In addition to several years as a trial lawyer,
she has a graduate degree in social work and has been
active as a community development advocate, with experience
in community organizing, housing development, facilitating
non-profit groups and community economic development
projects.

Fern
Katz, Southfield, MI
A retired math teacher and professional volunteer, Fern
is a longtime member of WAND Michigan, having served
as President, Treasurer, Chair of the WiLL Lobby Corps,
and more. She is involved in various organizations,
including the National Council of Jewish Women and Michigan
Public Education Task Force. She represented the National
Council of Jewish Women at the UN in 1995 in Beijing,
at the Fourth World Conference on Women. Fern was a
major player in getting the Southfield, MI City Council
to pass a resolution opposing the Patriot Act. In 2001
Fern was awarded the Heart of Gold Award from the United
Way of Southeastern Michigan. |

Alice
Lynch, Minneapolis, MN
Since 1986, Ms. Lynch has been the Executive Director
of Black, Indian, Hispanic and Asian Women in Action
(BIHA) which provides advocacy, education, information
and referral services to Communities of Color. She has
developed and presented training sessions on family
violence, chemical dependency, HIV/AIDS, and forms of
oppression such as ageism and racism. Lynch is also
an Instructor at the University of Minnesota and an
Employee Assistance Counselor with a local agency. |

Chantel
Morant, MD
Chantel is a STAND member and a student in Mass Media
Arts at Clark Atlanta University. She has been with STAND
for two years and has learned a significant amount about
organizing, advocacy and activism. Chantel is thrilled
to continue her fight for social justice as a member of
the WAND board. |

Hon.
Dorothy Rupert, Boulder, CO
Rupert was a member of the Colorado Senate from 1995
to 2001 and also served 8 years in the Colorado House.
An educator for 35 years, Rupert was a counselor and
English teacher in Boulder high schools. Her legislative
agenda focused on universal access to health care, public
education, and the environment. She was identified especially
with her work on prison reform, FGM, and hate crimes.

Mimi Stewart, Albuquerque, NM
Stewart, an elementary school teacher, was first elected
to the NM House in 1994 and currently serves as Chair
of the Government and Urban Affairs Committee. She's
been Special Education Teacher in Albuquerque Public
Schools; Public School Teacher; and Field Representative,
American Federation of Teachers. |

Suleyken
D. Walker, Boston, MA
Suleyken has served as a board member of WAND, Inc.,
since 1996. She is committed to promoting women's participation
in the political process and is particularly concerned
with empowering women to talk about the impact that
the federal budget and weapons systems have on the health
and safety of our nation. Suleyken is the former Executive
Director of the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators,
and served as the Secretary of the Massachusetts Women’s
Political Caucus. She has also been active in organizing
WAND sponsored workshops on the federal budget and is
a co-founder of the Cambridge, Massachusetts WAND Chapter.
Suleyken is an attorney and lives in Boston, Massachusetts. |
