Senate to vote on missile defense amendment evening of Monday, November 7
Speak out about your priorities and your need for real security.

Let's take a realistic look at the dangers out there, and make sensible choices.
We need to work to reduce the risk of nuclear terrorism. We don't need to pour money into a weapons system that simply doesn't work.

Amendment before the Senate would cut $50 million from missile defense, and transfer it to programs to help prevent nuclear terrorism.

Right now, the Senate is considering the FY06 defense authorization.
Sometime on Monday, the Senate will vote on an amendment to transfer $50 million from missile defense to nuclear threat reduction activities.

Missile defense has not been voted on for a year and a half. It's time to cast a critical eye on this -- the largest weapons system we have, at some $10 billion a year.

This is your chance to take action for real security. We know what really threatens our society: terrorists trying to get their hands on nuclear materials and weapons. And we know what effective, cost-efficient steps we can take to protect ourselves.

We also know what will not help: an enormously expensive system that has proven not to work over and over again. The system has not even completed its developmental tests, much less its operational tests under realistic combat conditions.

We need to make better choices.
