Capital Area WAND members attend peace vigil on second anniversary of start of Iraq war

March 20, 2005: Chapter members Diane Jones and Lane Stone attend a peace vigil marking the second anniversary of the war in Iraq.

Note from Win Without War:

To all Win Without War members:

Congratulations on what appears to have been a very successful series of vigils and other actions last weekend! It is always heartening to see such a strong response from the grassroots. It is also great to see so many Win Without War member groups joining together to support each others' activities.

Sojourners organized 900 vigils last weekend in all fifty states and several countries. More than 240 communities in all 50 states and the District of Columbia held vigils, memorials, rallies, prayer services, and other events for peace organized through AFSC. For more information on the success of AFSC's vigils, visit their website at www.afsc.org/standforpeace/.

At the request of the steering committee, Win Without War took the initiative to put out a press advisory (available on our website) regarding some of the weekend activities, particularly the Sojourners vigils. MoveOn had the same idea, so we combined forces and issued a joint release in consultation with Sojourners.

Best Regards,
