WAND Michigan Report: November 2004

List of chapters        Chapter activities     How to start a chapter

OREPA (Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance) 5th Anniversary of weekly Sunday evening Vigils at the Gate of “Y-12 National Security Complex”, Oak Ridge, TN on 11-28-2004.

This is the last fully operational nuclear weapons production facility in the U.S., where nuclear warheads for the Trident submarine are being refurbished to last around 100 years. Called “Stockpile Stewardship Program” this program is breaking the Non-Proliferation Treaty. On 11-20 it received even more funding in FY 2005 budget.

Carol (Rugh) Green sings as she leads this special vigil, celebrating the 11-20 decision to not fund the new nukes!

Kim (Rugh) Bergier rings a Tibetan singing bowl as she wears a Tibetan scarf from the XIV Dalai Lama.

Ralph Hutchison, OREPA’s Coordinator, & Lee Sessions, look on as Marcus Keyes rings the meditative bowl.
