and Outreach) and Tanya Wallace-Hargro (National
Field Director) spent some great days in Michigan
this fall. Thanks to everyone who hosted, attended,

WAND
field director Tanya Wallace-Hargro met with Michele
Corey, community advocacy director for Michigan's
Children, in October. Michigan's Children is a statewide,
multi-issue, independent, nonprofit advocacy group
that acts as a voice for children. Michele works
closely with state legislators in Lansing.

the Budget and Learning to Talk About It"
-- A dozen eager participants gathered in Alpena,
Michigan on October 15th for a WAND Ed Fund training
on the federal budget.
America's Checkbook: What the
Federal Budget Can Tell Us About Who We Are -
Michigan social workers and human service professionals
met in Traverse City on October 14th for a lively
discussion of federal budget priorities and the
connection between decisions made in Washington
and their mission to help meet the basic needs
of individuals throughout Michigan.
