WiLL/WAND National Conferences bring together over 200 women state legislators and women leaders in our nation’s capitol for three days to educate themselves and members of their Congressional delegations about key issues.

We take great pride in the fact that 36 members of the 109th Congress are WiLL/WAND women, many having attended WiLL conferences. The WiLL/WAND National Conference truly represents an influential slice of today’s and tomorrow’s leadership!

WiLL/WAND conferences feature U.S. Senators and Congresswomen, many of whom come from the ranks of state legislators. Federal women lawmakers will host our conferees on the Hill for a special briefing. Previous conference speakers include Mrs. Tipper Gore, former Attorney General Janet Reno, journalists Helen Thomas and Molly Ivins, Mrs. Coretta Scott King, economist Dr. Julianne Malveaux, and Children’s Defense Fund President Marian Wright Edelman. The 2005 conference promises to draw a similar list of exciting newsmakers.

WiLL strives to provide women state legislators with up to date information about federal budget priorities, so they can better address and understand the needs of their state. WiLL also helps build the tool box for women state legislators who plan to run for Congress, equipping them with knowledge, skills, and resources to take public policymaking to the next level. Enhancing, encouraging, and enabling women’s leadership in public office is at the core of WiLL work.
