Celebrating families, peace, and the true meaning of Mother's Day

WAND Executive Director Susan Shaer (left) presents the award to Nancy Lessin, co-founder of Military Families Speak Out, labor activist, and mother to a son recently returned from Iraq.

Nancy read heart-rending messages from families who have loved ones still serving in Iraq, and who are choosing to stand up and speak out against the war.

After speaking, Nancy hugged some of the families who were in the audience, including the wife and children of a man in the National Guard who's currently in Iraq.
