Upon the bust of the nuclear bunker buster
A message from WAND executive director Susan Shaer
October 27, 2005

It seems as if we have to fight in every corner to re-establish our nation's fundamental humanity. Do we care for the poor or let them float along unnoticed until a hurricane blows the lid off? Do we keep from establishing national rules for voting? Do we continue to allow for tax cuts for the very wealthy while scrambling to hack away at services to the poor and elderly, children and jobless?

Eliminating the nuclear bunker buster was a victory for fair play.

We should not even be considering a new generation of nuclear weapons. That is "old think" and pathetically arrogant. We need to set a standard to move toward modern peacekeeping and peacemaking, not arming ourselves with the most dangerous of all weapons.

Thank you to everyone who saw this veiled attempt to begin a new nuclear weapons regime for what it was and weighed in. Congratulations, and keep it up!
