Enough. Iraq should teach us not to wage another war on Iran.
Allow Congressional oversight of administration's plans for Iran

Urge your Representative to sign a letter requesting a series of hearings regarding Iran to the chairs of the relevant committees.

No More Hiroshimas! No More Nagasakis!
Stop the plan to build new nuclear weapons.
The House eliminated funding for the reliable replacement warhead (RRW) for FY 2008. Sen. Feinstein has introduced S.1914, a bill which stops funding the RRW until a new nuclear policy and posture review are completed. Urge your Senators to support the bill.

No more cluster bombs! Monday, November 5: National Day to Call the Senate to ban use/export
Cluster bombs kill and harm civilians -- over 98% victims are civilians. This is inhumane and unnecessary.
November 5: Call: 1-800-352-1897
Urge your Senators to cosponsor S.594 (the Cluster Munitions Civilian Protection Act).

No more money for missile defense
Deny funds to this overpriced, misplaced, malfunctioning weapons system.
Missile defense is the single most costly weapons system in the Pentagon budget and is one of the least justifiable military programs. The Administration proposed nearly $11 billion for missile defense for FY08| Take action .

5/25: Oh, well... Congress approves war funding without withdrawal timelines
We need an exit strategy, not a blank check.
You can still tell Congress what you think of this endless war... They're sure gonna have to vote on it again sometime.

The WAND legislative agenda for 2007
Our priorities on Capitol Hill for the coming year. For example, how about alternatives to war? Less for the Pentagon, more for human beings? Preventing nuclear terrorism?
Seems fairly obvious to me...

WAND is part of a coalition of groups working every day to move Congress to do something already about the war. Please explore the site.

Diplomacy, not war, with Iran
Tell Congress: Let’s do all we can to avoid military action against Iran

Send a message to your Representative and Senators today.

In-District Lobby Days | May 28 – June 1
As part of coalition efforts to prevent a U.S. military attack on Iran, organizations are joining together to call for “In-District Lobby Days” during the Congressional recess May 28-June 1, 2007.

During this time, Members of Congress will be in their home districts. This presents an effective opportunity for grassroots activists to meet with their Members of Congress.

This coalition has prepared a toolkit, with information on how to schedule a meeting, talking points, tips for successful lobby visits, and a meeting debriefing form. Contact cong@armscontrolcenter.org for more information.

No new nuclear bomb plant!
No new nuclear arms race!
If you thought the U.S. was done making new nuclear weapons, think again.
Then get in touch with Congress to say: don't start a new nuclear arms race.

Tax Day! Do you know where your tax dollars are going?
When I put that whopping check in the mail on April 15, I like to think of... small children getting free lunch at school... young men rebuilding houses for poor people on the Gulf Coast... health services for our veterans... But that's NOT where most of my money goes.
This year, why not do something about it?

Love. Not war. Nothing says "I love you" like an anti-war ad on Capitol Hill.
Valentine's Day 2007
Skip the candy and the flowers this year.
Show your love by helping to pay for an ad that speaks out clearly against a military action on Iran.
The ad will be in CQ Daily on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
Please help WAND pay for this ad! We're aiming to make an impact, and a difference, NOW.
Thanks! See the full ad.

In March, Congress will be voting on the supplemental budget that funds the war.
Tell your Representative to vote No.

Happy Valentine's Day, by the way!

What about the proposed FY07 federal budget? How will we cut the pie?
"Enacting the president's budget would result in (1) massive deficits, (2) cuts to services and investments vital to long-run growth, and (3) an increasingly unfair tax policy."

Never again.

I take great pride in my country's integrity. And I want to be secure. But I believe we can have both.
We do not need to brutalize prisoners of war.

Tell Congress that torture is not the American way.
It undermines all that we stand for, and all that we are hoping to accomplish in the world: the spread of democracy, civil rights, and humanity.

War as the last option: Diplomacy before invasion of Iran
Tell your elected officials that the U.S. should engage in real diplomacy and begin direct talks with the Iranian government over its nuclear program. We must exhaust all diplomatic options before considering use of military force.

$100 billion for a weapons system that does not work.
Doesn't that seem like enough, already? Not to the administration: they want over $11 billion for the next fiscal year. This time, let's say NO. Click here to send an email.

It's just not good to put weapons in space.
But still, the administration wants to go there.
The time to stop it is now. Members of Congress will be making vital decisions in the next week. Tell them: Don't fund testing a system designed to attack a satellite. Click here to send an email.

Who gets the biggest slice?
The Pentagon: 53% of the discretionary federal budget pie. It's too much. That about sums it up.
We need to value people more than the massive military machine.

Let's do what we can to save that planet
The Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is a cornerstone of global efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. This treaty codifies one of the most important international bargains of our time: states without nuclear weapons pledge not to acquire them, while nuclear-armed states commit to eventually give them up. Take action here.

Update on nuclear bunker buster: August 2005.
The House virtually eliminated funding for the nuclear bunker buster. The Senate, however, voted down an amendment that would have denied funds to the bunker buster.
Next up: an amendment from Sen. Kennedy to transfer bunker buster money to the National Guard.
