WAND's
Partner Program
About
the WAND Partner program
Excessive
spending on the military affects the lives of millions
of Americans whose basic needs are not being met.
Every dollar spent on unnecessary weapons is
a dollar cut from programs that serve children, families
and communities-programs for health, housing, jobs,
education and the environment.
WAND
is building a movement to change federal budget priorities,
linking its own members with women state legislators,
women in Congress, and partner organizations.
This
is where you come in! WAND
Partners are an important part of this movement for
change.

What
is a WAND Partner?
WAND
Partners are organizations committed to working with
WAND to address federal budget priorities so that
human and environmental needs are better served.
These organizations understand the cost to communities
across America because of unwise federal spending
decisions--they experience it every day.
WAND
Partners are primarily non-profit women's, human needs,
and peace organizations, but also include programs
in universities, religious organizations, and policy/research
groups. Partners may be local, state, regional,
national, or international. WAND currently has a network
of over 400 partners in more than 25 states.
What
do WAND Partners do?
Partners
share information with their members and constituents
about the connection between federal spending priorities
and their own vital work. They also share information
about their issues and programs with WAND.
Partners
mobilize their own membership/network to take
action on important legislation as the need arises.
As
leaders in their communities, Partners are a vital
part of WAND's growing Women Take Action! network
of activists, women state legislators, and women in
Congress. Partners co-sponsor and attend "Women Take
Action!" events in their area, contributing their
own unique perspectives on federal budget priorities.
What
are the benefits of being part of WAND's Partner Network?
Both
WAND and its Partners benefit from information sharing.
WAND provides ongoing information and action opportunities
to Partners (via e-mail, newsletters and fact-sheets)
for distribution to their membership, offers opportunities
to take action, and leads public speaking and media
training events. In exchange, WAND posts announcements
provided by Partners on our regular News Bulletin,
emailed to thousands of activists.
Partners
are invited to participate, along with women state
legislators, activists and leaders, in the WAND/WiLL
National Conference held biennially in Washington,
DC.
Together
we are indeed greater than the sum of our parts! Through
WAND's network, the reach and effectiveness of WAND
and its Partners multiplies, increasing our strength
and base of support.
