Mother's Day 2008 is May 11. You'll likely want to send a token of your love and admiration to the people in your life who embody what is best about Mother's Day: love, empathy, peace, nurturing. Wouldn't it be great to send them more than just a token? To send them the gift of PEACE? Have we got a deal for you. You send a donation to WAND, and invest in a future of peace, and we'll send a lovely card to your people. Julia Ward Howe would be delighted, and your mother people will be, too. Thank you for all you do, every day, to promote peace and the original values of Mother's Day for Peace!
For 25 years, WAND has been celebrating the original meaning of Mother's Peace Day -- and this year, the cry for peace is more vital than ever. Here's a factoid about Mother's Day: It's the biggest gift-giving day of the year after the Big One (you know, Christmas). That's cool, we guess. But it's an awful lot of money going to, well, big box stores and florists. $14 billion, to be exact. Wouldn't it be nice if all that money went to some deserving nonprofit organizations instead? Say, nonprofits that work for peace, women, and power every day of the year? We think so, too. And we'd certainly welcome anything you might send our way. And we'd be happy to honor your loved ones with a great card. Here are some links to some great resources. Please explore, enjoy -- and take action! Thanks.
