Atlanta
WAND has celebrated Mother’s Day for Peace for
over twenty years as a way to honor those who work
for non-violent change, diplomacy and an end to war.
What
better time to welcome Alice Walker into our midst?
Throughout her career, Alice has been a voice for
peace and an advocate for those who have no voice.
Her deep Southern roots have informed her writings
that inspire women around the world.

WAND is leading the movement for social, racial and
environmental justice. We stand for peace, we study
peace, and we educate for better ways to federally
fund peace rather than war. We also work very hard
to develop citizen awareness of, perhaps, the largest
threat to peace on the planet: nuclear weapons.

Experience our country’s federal budget
priorities one step at a time!
Over
half of our discretionary budget is devoted to military
expenditure. Does this emphasis contribute to a culture
of violence?
Walkers
will contemplate that question as they march from
the EWEB Fountain Plaza, 500 E. 4th St. Eugene,
to the Rose Garden and receive information
from WAND along the way. Pie served at the finish
line. Celebrate Mother’s Day this year by taking
action for a new direction in our country’s
spending habits!
