Diplomacy and Development, Not the Wars!
The
Obama Administration has asked Congress for another
$83.4 billion in FY09 supplemental funding for military
operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. As it stands now,
the House Appropriations Committee has actually increased
this amount to $94.2 billion.
Over
90% of this funding is for military actions, not security
for the innocent residents nor development assistance.
Voting
on the supplemental will be happening in the House
this week and the Senate next week. It is vitally
important that people across the country send a clear
message that to be different from the last administration,
you have to act differently. Our money, our budget,
shows our values.
Join the National Call-In Day and let Congress know
that while we support funding for the safe withdrawal
of troops, and for diplomacy, economic assistance
and humanitarian aid, we oppose money for combat operations.
