Thanks to everyone who voted for WAND in the Peace Primary!
September 1 - October 31, 2007

WAND was honored to be one of twelve groups selected to participate in the Peace Primary sponsored by Ploughshares. We thank everyone who voted for us.

As the only women's group in the bunch, we were proud to speak up for the absolute necessity to have women at the table where decisions about peace and security are made! Women's voices are vitally important!

While WAND didn't win the grand prize (that honor went to TrueMajority), we did well in showing how important our issues are. We will use the money we raised on the best things in life:

  • encouraging women to run for office;
  • educating the public and legislators about the realities of our Pentagon budget, and how that affects our foreign policy;
  • spreading the word about the military budget and our militaristic approach to foreign policy to communities of faith
  • mentoring young women to choose careers in public policy
  • monitoring moves to create new and "more usable" nuclear weapons -- and alerting people and the media about these efforts
  • and so much more!

Bring women to the tables of power!

Four! Count 'em! You can't get more than that!
