WiLL and WAND Members Make Waves for Nuclear Abolition
By Stephanie Broughton

Michigan State Representative Lynne Martinez with 16 co-sponsors, including WiLL members Representatives Laura Baird, Elizabeth Brater, Julie Dennis, Pan Godchaux, Gilda Jacobs, and Martha Scott, introduced a resolution calling on Congress and the President to work for true national security and a nuclear free world. The bill, House Resolution No. 392, was referred to committee, but folks in Michigan should take action NOW!

WAND is collecting letters-to-the-editor, op-eds, petitions and other signs of support to send to members of the Michigan House of Representatives.

Contact Stephanie Broughton in WAND’s D.C. office for sample letters, petitions, copies of the resolution and more information. Call 202- 543-8505 or email nuclear@wand.org.

Please send us any published material and we will be sure to include it in the “Book of Support.”

North Shore WAND member Bonnie Howard addressed the crowd at this year’s “Vigil for Peace,” sponsored by the Chapter and held on August 9 at Preston Beach Park, MA. She raised awareness about the dangers of deploying the proposed national missile defense system (“Star Wars”) and its adverse effect on the reduction of nuclear weapons worldwide.
