WAND Plan of Action Post-9/11

By Bobbie Wrenn Banks

What can we do and say at this time of crisis to move forward with our shared mission to build real security? In response to this question, delegates at the WiLL/ WAND conference in September shared ideas and insights that have formed a plan of action, which is based on the five principles of our statement about the September 11th attacks.

We encourage everyone, either individually or as part of a group, to take concrete steps each day toward real security. Each individual action is important, and together we are a powerful force for change.

WAND has launched a national education campaign in response to September 11th and its aftermath, which is outlined on the facing page. Women Take Action for Real Security includes candidate and elected-official briefings, a speakers tour, "kitchen table talks," library gatherings, and community forums. Opportunities for further involvement are posted weekly on the WAND/WTA Email Bulletin Board. (If you would like to receive the bulletin board, please sign up on our website.)

The action plan is a living document that will be updated regularly, so please refer to WAND's website for the most current version.
