WAND PAC Women Making History

An unprecedented victory for women occurred on October 19, 2001, when WAND-endorsed Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (CA-8) was elected House Minority Whip, the second-most-powerful leadership position the Democrats hold in the House. Rep. Pelosi is the first woman to rise through the ranks to a top leadership role in Congress. WAND salutes her and looks forward to continuing our working relationship.

Also making history is Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-9), who was the only member of the House to vote against the use-of-force resolution in response to the September 11th attacks. Her voice of restraint during turbulent times demonstrated strength and a resolute belief in justice. WAND PAC Candidate Update

WAND PAC Candidate Update

WAND endorses WiLL member and former state senator Chellie Pingree in her race against US Senator Susan Collins from Maine. State Representative Martha Fuller Clark will run for an open con-gressional seat in New Hampshire’s first district. Winning an open seat is much easier than defeating an incumbent.

WAND is proud of State Representative Jo Carson for her impressive showing in the special election for a congressional seat in Arkansas’ third district. Rep. Carson proved herself a viable candidate, and WAND looks forward to working with her both in future runs for Congress and as a newly elected WAND national board member!
