A
former corporate executive with Pepperidge
Farm, Inc. and Bayer Corporation, Doloris
Cogan has used her writing and speaking
skills to promote international nuclear
disarmament since retirement in 1988.
Named Grassroots Leader of the Year
2000 by Peace Links (founded by Betty
Bumpers and headquartered in Washington,
DC), Doloris coordinated the Back from
the Brink activities of more than a
dozen groups throughout the country
that year.
She
has led workshops on writing to our
President, Senators, and Members of
Congress on the need to reduce military
spending. She also writes op-eds and
letters to the editor that serve as
models for others.
In
2001, she helped transform the Elkhart
Peace Links group into Women's Action
for New Directions (WAND) of Northern
Indiana, and has remained a member of
its steering committee. She has participated
in Women Leadership Workshops on the
federal budget three times, and is eager
to share what she has learned with service
clubs, church groups, civic associations
— and anybody who will listen!
