DIGITAL ORGANIZER

Women’s Action for New Directions (WAND) is seeking candidates for the position of Digital Organizer. This position reports to the Director of Communications and will be responsible for planning and implementing our digital engagement programs aimed at fundraising and promoting WAND’s advocacy work.

Women’s Action for New Directions is a national nonprofit organization that seeks to empower women to act politically to reduce violence and militarism and redirect excessive Pentagon resources toward unmet human and environmental needs. 

 

WAND operates two nonprofit organizations with one united vision. WAND Education Fund is a 501c3 organization that educates Congress, state legislators, and the public on progressive national security issues. WAND Inc. is a 501c4 organization that engages the grassroots in the political process to advocate for national security policy change. Additionally, our Women Legislators' Lobby (WiLL), a program of WAND, is a national nonpartisan network of women state legislators who work together to influence federal policy and budget priorities.

 

Overview

We are seeking a creative individual who has expert knowledge in advocacy, fundraising, and organizing, primarily through digital platforms, and an ability to create grabbing online content that will be disseminated to our community and spur them to action. The digital organizer will be part of a team that works collaboratively on our engagement, education, activist and fundraising goals. 

 

This person will be passionate, versatile, and enthusiastic with experience using online tools to promote campaigns, identify new supporters, and organize people online to take action both online and offline. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • General

    • Providing vision and direction for WAND’s digital communications, ensuring that content supports fundraising and advocacy strategies

    • Develop and execute plans for growing and mobilizing regional and national networks of supporters

    • Analyze data related to email list, website, and social channels to improve effectiveness

  • Social:

    • Produce creative and engaging content for social media daily, including graphics and video

  • Email:

    • Manage email fundraising program - plan, write and produce national fundraising emails and meet quarterly and annual fundraising and growth goals

    • Manage email database and ensure list health through detailed list segmentation

  • List-Building:

    • Utilize social media to maximize digital list building and increase our base of activists

    • Managing and overseeing digital vendors, including ad buyers, social strategists, and web consultant

    • Developing online ad strategies, including creating concepts and content and measure the immediate and long-term ROI of acquisition programs

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Two to three years experience in online organizing, advocacy, fundraising, or campaigning

  • Strong attention-to-detail and proven ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines

  • Collaborative team player eager to work with others but able to function productively and effectively to carry out their own project responsibilities

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an action-oriented office. 

  • Exceptional written communication skills

  • Politically savvy with a keen eye on current events.

  • Experience creating graphics and content for social media;

  • Expert knowledge of social media — principally Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram — and an ability to quickly learn new platforms as needed

  • Basic knowledge of HTML

  • Prior experience or aptitude with Congress Plus, Google Analytics, NGP EveryAction, Blue State Digital, Act Blue, and/or other advocacy platforms

  • Proven record of fundraising success in a nonprofit or campaign setting — to include new donor acquisition and cultivation; long-term donor retention strategies; and online fundraising.

  • Deep understanding of messaging across audiences with an ability to match content and tone accordingly

  • Commitment to understand race, class, gender, and other equity issues as part of your work as well as the impact these structural issues have on our collective work environment

  • Preferred:

    • Working knowledge of peace and security issues, state and federal legislative processes, and gender equality a plus

    • Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite

    • Knowledge of video editing

    • Working knowledge of digital paid media campaign tactics

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

Salary: $45-50k DOE.
