Campaign Status

Rep. Natalie Higgins, an original co-sponsor to 2018’s SD2488, introduced HD2967 in 2019 calling on Massachusetts Congressional Delegation to support No First Use legislation. The Senate companion legislation, SD1302, was introduced by WiLL veteran Senator Patricia Jehlen, the Assistant Majority Leader.

On February 4th both SD2488 and HD2967 were officially introduced with a collective 24 co-sponsors! Thank you for reaching out to your State Senator & Representatives and urging them to be an original co-sponsor. 

The resolutions have now been sent to the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs.  

Legislator Spotlight

Senator Pat Jehlen

Senator Pat Jehlen is the Assistant Majority Leader and has served the Massachusetts State Senate since 2005. She also served the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1991-2003. Senator Jehlen's top legislative priorities are education, universal and affordable health care, jobs with decent wages and benefits, and paid family leave. She has been a leader on peace issue in the legislature and was among the first class of WiLL members in 1992!

Representative Natalie Higgins

Representative Natalie Higgins was elected in 2016 and represents the 4th District (Worcester). She is currently on multiple committees including Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Businesses and the House Committee on Technology and Intergovernmental Affairs. She is working closely with local peace groups in Massachusetts to make sure constituents concerns about the nuclear weapons protocol is addressed.
