Time to Cut $80 Billion from the Pentagon Budget

WAND joins 25 national security and taxpayer organizations to call for $80 Billion in cuts to the Pentagon Budget. WAND believes that these are common sense cuts that will help our national defense spending fall more in line with what American taxpayers need and deserve.
As the country faces a cascade of non-military crises including a global pandemic, economic recession, climate catastrophes and domestic threats to US democracy, it is imperative that we rebalance our budgets to better reflect the country’s priorities, ensuring the US can deal with pressing current and future threats.
The letter proposes canceling the B-1 bomber, Ground Based Strategic Deterrent, Ford Class Carrier and additional F-35s; eliminating the Space Force; reducing the size of the nuclear triad; reducing service contracting by 15%; deferring the B-21; and eliminating the OCO “budget gimmick.”
