WAND urges Pres. Trump to lift sanctions on Iran, which are killing thousands
During this unprecedented pandemic, it is critical the U.S. cooperates in global efforts to contain the deadliness of the virus. Iran has become an epicenter of the outbreak and ongoing U.S. sanctions make it difficult for Iranian people to obtain basic goods and services to survive the crisis. WAND urges President Trump, Secretary Mnuchin, and Secretary Pompeo to issue a time-bound suspension of U.S. sanctions that are allowing the virus to kill Iranians because of slowing or blocking entirely the sale of medicine, respirators, and hygienic supplies needed to weather the pandemic. This action would offer significant relief for ordinary Iranians to procure their food, medicine, and other basic needs in order to mitigate the global and shared threat of COVID-19.
