Towards peace on the Korean Peninsula

WAND welcomes the introduction of the Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act, led by Representative Brad Sherman in the U.S. House of Representatives. As an organization dedicated to diplomatic solutions to pressing foreign policy issues, we support a formal end to the Korean War and a reestablishment of diplomatic relations with North Korea.

We further recognize the pain and hardship caused to the 100,000+ Americans who have been unable to visit their family members who remain in North Korea, or attend burials and funerals and other religious events, since 2017 when the Trump administration changed U.S. travel policy. This needed policy change will open much-needed space for continued nuclear negotiations with Pyongyang while promoting long-term peace on the Peninsula.
